Symmons sets the standard for safety in the shower

Everyone has experienced the unpleasant change of shower water temperature when somebody flushes a toilet or runs water elsewhere in the plumbing system. Current state and federal requirements for flow restricted showerheads compound the problem. With lower flow rates, the potential for scalding and thermal shock is greatly increased.

Symmons products make sense.

Symmons has teamed with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) WaterSense® program to help consumers save water for future generations and reduce costs on their utility bills. WaterSense labeled products use about 20% less water and perform as well or better than their less efficient counterparts.

Symmons, the smart choice, has long been a leader in quality plumbing fixtures. Most recently the company has expanded their line to upgrade commercial application aesthetics.

The Naru™, Sereno™, and Oxford™ collections can been seen now, in Excel's Showroom, with more to come, located at 659 South Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco.

All affected Symmons faucets will be in compliance with CA AB1953 by January 1, 2010. Current model numbers will remain as is, and the same cut sheets will apply once products are AB1953 compliant. Compliant product will be available for order by October 2009.

The ASPE Board meeting and preparation for the event started the evening. Guests began arriving at 5:00 to enjoy wine, hors d'oeuvres and mingling. Dinner was serve at 6:00. The traditional ASPE raffle took place as fun over desert before our attention turned to the presentation of the evening: a forum-style discussion of AB-1953, the lower-lead requirement for plumbing products delivering potable water going into effect January 1, 2010.

California Assembly Bill 1953 (AB1953) was signed into law September 30th, 2006 by State Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The intent was to reduce the amount of lead in specific plumbing fixtures from its current regulated amount of no more than 8%, to a new standard not to exceed 0.25%.

The bill takes effect January 1, 2010. Are You Prepared?
