Whirlpool Corporation has a made a design change to all of their 24" built-in and tall tub dishwashers. The solenoid valve connection is moving from an FIP to a standard male garden hose thread connection. The water line connection will remain 3/8" compression. This change affects Whirlpool along with its other brands such as Maytag, Amana, Kitchen Aid, and Jenn Air.

The Double‐Arrow is a frost‐proof wall hydrant with two integral yet
independently operating check valves assembled in tandem to provide
backflow protection. The first check valve has two check surfaces and
the second check valve has one, for a total of three check surfaces.
The hydrant drains as the handle is shut off. The hydrant meets new

Seattle Housing Authority has announced their affordable housing units, furnished with Baxi Luna combination heating and domenstic hot water boilers, are using 37% less fuel than houses in a similar Seattle housing redevelopment project using a different hydronic heating solution. An independent study shows the Housing Authority will enjoy continued fuel consumption and utility bill savings as utility rates increase. In addition, return on investment will continue to grow after deducting new conservation incentives offered by utility and government agencies.

The law requires that surfaces in contact with potable water are not to exceed a lead content on 0.25% of the wetted surface.
You can now place orders for the first SKUs of AB1953 compliant product from BrassCraft. Orders will begin shipping 7/15/09. As of 8/01/09 BrassCraft will no longer ship out non-compliant product from the first round of SKUs converted.
Phase two of product SKUs will follow suit in August, followed by the final phase in September.

Kliman Sales was there in force! After overcoming set up on the hottest day of the year, everyone cooled off and turned their focus to the crowd. The turn out was good, much like last year. An evening full of new and old connections.
The ASPE Board meeting and preparation for the event started the evening. Guests began arriving at 5:00 to enjoy wine, hors d'oeuvres and mingling. Dinner was serve at 6:00. The traditional ASPE raffle took place as fun over desert before our attention turned to the presentation of the evening: a forum-style discussion of AB-1953, the lower-lead requirement for plumbing products delivering potable water going into effect January 1, 2010.
California Assembly Bill 1953 (AB1953) was signed into law September 30th, 2006 by State Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. The intent was to reduce the amount of lead in specific plumbing fixtures from its current regulated amount of no more than 8%, to a new standard not to exceed 0.25%.
The bill takes effect January 1, 2010. Are You Prepared?
